You’re in the right place to learn about natural detox and cleanse methods. If you’d like to help your body detox from chemicals and toxic exposures, read on. There are some easy ways to help our bodies do what they are already doing all the time.
Our livers filter and clean out our bodies and kidneys help filter and flush out toxins out as well. And our lungs can help expel toxins as well. But there are supplements that help them function better.
a: to remove a harmful substance (such as a poison or toxin) or the effect of such from
b: to render (a harmful substance) harmless

What You Should Know
What I really want you to know is that lifestyle might matter even more than doing an occasional ‘cleanse’. If we reduce inflammation and help rid our bodies of oxidation, we actually help our bodies even more.
While I might talk occasionally about specific cleanse formulations, I think it’s important to remember that everyday lifestyle is more important than an occasional cleanse.
There are supplements that greatly reduce inflammation, which helps your natural immune system and organs do their job much easier. And some supplements help reduce oxidative stress and can help prevent cancer and other chronic diseases as well.
Doing an occasional cleanse is okay. But what if you lived cleaner and didn’t put all the ‘bad stuff’ in in the first place?
Types of Toxic Exposures
Let’s talk about specific toxins we might want to avoid or get rid of.
- Heavy Metals – Arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium
- Herbicides and Pesticides
- Jet fuel
- Environmental Phenols – Benzophenone-3, BPA’s, Triclosan, 4-tert-Octylphenol
- Phlalates in plastics
- Cigarette smoke
- Nitrites and Nitrates
Foods & Drinks That Can Cause Inflammation
Even some foods and drinks can be toxic. Something to think about.
- Gluten from wheat, barley, and rye grains
- Food additives in processed foods
- Corn syrup and refined sugars
- Trans fats – Hydrogenated oils
- EMF’s – Electro-Magnetic Fields
I’ll be talking more about these individual topics and adding links as they become available.
But mainly, I’ll be focusing on supplements and tactics to reduce or repair the damage they cause.
Symptoms of Toxic Burden
- Brain fog
- Body odor
- Acne, rashes, itchy or sensitive skin, hives
- Bad breath
- Strong-smelling sweat
- Dark yellow-orange pee
Best Ways to Cleanse
One of the best things you can do for your body is drink water. It helps to clear out toxins through your blood and lymphatic system. How much should you drink? There is a simple calculation you can make. Simply multiply your body weight by 2/3 or 67% to get the number of ounces you should drink daily.
Recommended Water per Day:
- 130 pounds = 87 ounces
- 180 pounds = 121 ounces
- 220 pounds = 148 ounces
Some tips to help you get there:
- Mealtime – Drink 2 cups of water before every meal.
- Infusion – Try using an infusing pitcher or water bottle. Add fruit to the infuser and voila, you get healthy and tasty water.
- Add Bubbles! – Sodastream is a great way to create your own sparkling water at home. If you are weaning off of soda or just want a healthier version, Sodastream is perfect for you. They even have bublyTM brand flavorings and their own.
Exercise really revs up your natural detox systems, increasing blood flow, helping lungs function better, and also helps and prevents constipation. That is one of the things we want to focus on, a healthy gut. And exercise helps your skin sweat out more toxins.
Increasing exercise has so many benefits and you’ll feel great.
Foods and Supplements
There are some cleanses available and I’ll provide reviews. But as you have probably figured out, they really just help your body do what it does naturally. I have some other suggestions (below) as well.
- Spices like turmeric, ginger, and cloves. I’m a big believer in the power of turmeric, especially.
- green leafy vegetables
- green tea and
- berries and cherries
- grapeseed extract
- spirulina (blue-green algae)
- omega 3’s
- milk thistle
- B-complex vitamins
And more that I will get into on this site.
