Detox Vitamins and Supplements: Simple and Healthy Detox

If you’re looking for a simple way to get started detoxing your body, I’ve done the research for you. I bring you a simple way to get started with detox vitamins and supplements. These supplements help your body detox naturally and safely. And it’s nutritionally sound.

You’ll feel great and notice a difference in a very short period of time.

Your body does a great job detoxing on its own through your kidneys, liver, colon, lungs, and lymph system (sweating) but adding a few supplements helps it do it even better.

The key here is moderation. We don’t need to take mega doses of anything for better health. In fact, mega doses of certain vitamins can actually be bad for you. So take supplements as directed or how your doctor recommends.

Here they are, in no particular order.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a macromineral that assists with over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. It’s super important but most people are actually low on it. For detox, it also helps in digestion and keeping you regular. Some people have constipation issues because they are low on magnesium.

Magnesium is also a detox agent for your liver.

You will notice it helps empty your bowels so take as directed. I believe in magnesium as a detox helper. It pulls water into the bowel and stimulates the colon. This is a huge way to get rid of toxins.

And, magnesium helps prevent or get rid of headaches, migraines, heart arrhythmia, depression, anxiety, memory problems, and more.

You’ll also notice you can go to sleep easier and stay asleep. So take it at night to help your body detox during the all-important nighttime hours. Your body does a lot of self-detox while you sleep.

Any type of magnesium is good for you. This one featured is especially good for sleep:

Probiotics

Probiotics are extremely helpful to help your body detox. Probiotics contain good bacteria similar to or the same as found in the large intestine. Probiotics contain live cultures and vary from brand to brand. As you probably know, yogurt is full of good probiotics, primarily acidophilus.

Basically, any food that is fermented contains good bacteria for our gut.

In order to keep our gut in good working order, or to replenish while taking antibiotics, probiotics can really help your gut do its work even better, to detox. In a Cleveland Clinic article, How to Pick the Best Probiotic for You, it is mentioned that Dr. Cresci suggests staying away from store brands, and spend a little extra on a name brand that’s been studied.

If you have any health issues, ask your doctor if taking a probiotic is a good idea for you.

Here is a brand I trust:

Turmeric and Curcumin

Turmeric is simply a spice, often found in Indian foods like curry. It was found to have great benefits to health, including being an antioxidant, pairing with free radicals to neutralize them in the body. That helps reduce inflammation in the body, so while we’re detoxing, we can help calm the body down with an anti-inflammatory.

But there’s more. Curcumin is simply the effective component in turmeric. It’s been found to reduce amyloid plaques in the brain, a precursor and symptom of Alzheimer’s. So while you’re detoxing your body, you can detox your brain as well.

Turmeric and curcumin are great for boosting your immune system. I actually found an improvement in my brain function and memory when I started taking it a few years ago.

I highly recommend adding turmeric with a high concentration of curcumin to your detox vitamin and supplement list.

Grapeseed Extract

You might remember how red wine is touted to be good for our health. People in Southern France who drink a fair amount of red wine have very few health problems. Even though there is a high rate of smoking and a high-fat diet.

Well, it’s actually the grapes. But since alcohol is scientifically proven to be bad for us, a poison even, grapeseed extract is a better way to get the amazing health benefits of grapes.

Grapeseed extract, also known as OPC (Oligomeric proanthocyanidins) was first extracted for use as a supplement in 1947 by the now-famous pharmacologist Professor Jack Masquelier, from Bordeaux, France.

Grapeseed extract has several benefits. One is it removes lead from our internal organs. Lead, which we can all be exposed to in various places, is very bad for our brains and heart. Grapeseed extract is proven to actually remove it. And it’s an anti-oxidant.

Another benefit is it is like a magnifier for other vitamins, like Vitamin C and E. Vitamin C only lasts a few hours in our blood normally, then is sent out through our urine. Grapeseed extract can prolong Vitamin C and E in our bodies so we get even better benefits from them.

It also thins the blood slightly so it’s easier for our hearts to pump blood through our circulatory system, which also helps get the toxins out more efficiently. If you’re on a blood thinner or taking aspirin daily, you should probably not take grapeseed extract (OPC).

And remember the amyloid plaques I mentioned in the brain? It has been scientifically proven that grape seed extract also reduces amyloid plaques in the brain*.

I highly recommend taking grapeseed extract, at least every other day. It can last in our bodies up to 72 hours, a nice benefit. Here is one I like:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps to strengthen your skin by helping with the production of collagen. This important barrier is the first line of defense from outside substances entering the body. It also is a powerful antioxidant and helps in the initial stages of the immune system.

Vitamin C is well known to help with healing. Adding Vitamin C to your regimen will keep you healthy as you purge.

Here is my pick:

  1. I have been taking probiotics daily for about 2 months. It’s important to understand that probiotics are a natural supplement and not a medicine. Thus, it’s not like I am putting a bunch of chemicals a lab produces into my body. There may be a few exceptions in which people can’t take probiotics daily.

  2. Thank you for your research! I already take magnesium and vitamin C. I eat a lot of yoghurt so do you think I need to take probiotics too? As for grapeseed extract, I am French and I drink wine but you are right alcohool is not so healthy and i don’t believe I drink enough wine to benefit from the oligomeric proanthocyanidins present in it! I need to consider getting the extract that will be so much more beneficial!

    1. Awesome you are already taking magnesium and Vitamin C. I’m not a doctor but yogurt is a great source of probiotics. If you have days you don’t eat yogurt, it wouldn’t hurt to have a probiotic around. Agreed. You might have to drink a Lot of wine to get the full benefits as grape seed extract. Thank you for reading and leaving your comments.
